Meet the Team - Maud GARI_Le LABA

What is the name of your organisation and what do you do?

Le LABA implements projects in the culture and heritage sectors in partnership with its French and international partners. It promotes inclusion, social innovation, gender equality, and climate resilience and intervenes in the creative and cultural industries sector. LABA's team fosters innovative education and entrepreneurship and has conducted more than 70 European projects over the past 10 years.

Can you present yourself and tell us more about what you do?

I am Maud GARI, the General Secretary of Le LABA. I coordinate international projects and specialize in gender, entrepreneurship, and green transition. With 15 years of experience in the music industry (including festivals, labels, and networks), I have been implementing the European project MEWEM - Mentoring Programme for Women Entrepreneurs in the Music Industry, financed by Creative Europe.

What is your role and your responsibilities in this project?

Le LABA leads the MOSAIC project, while Maud manages the 7 partners and handles the administrative aspects of European funding.

Tell us, what is the purpose of the Mosaic Project? What made you want to join this project?

It's crucial to remember that underrepresented entrepreneurs, such as women, migrants, or Roma people, face significant challenges in securing funding in Europe. As Le LABA has been focusing on entrepreneurship for many years, we strongly believe that having diverse and resilient entrepreneurs, particularly in the cultural sector, can enhance the industry's audience and economic impact. That's why we introduced MOSAIC—to enhance the awareness and skills of underrepresented entrepreneurs and their support network, including educators and investors.

What strategies have been put into place to ensure the success of this project? What do you think Mosaic needs to draw attention to that previous projects with a similar aim have not yet achieved?

MOSAIC's power lies in its consortium, which brings together experts in entrepreneurship, international cooperation, non-formal education, and financing schemes.

What do you hope to achieve through this project?

Through our research and publications, as well as the practical tools and MOSAIC online application, we aim to raise awareness among as many people as possible about the challenges that female and underrepresented entrepreneurs encounter when accessing finance and provide them with the necessary support to overcome these barriers.
